About Sue Cocks

A Passionate Speaker, Trainer and Coach.

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a famous ballerina (well it’s was every girls dream, before X factor & Britain’s’ got talent shows came along) but alas I grew too tall!

I then discovered swimming, talk about a fish in water I was never out of it! I became very good at it and developed a skill for long distance events, reeling in my fellow competitors was what I particularly enjoyed even if I consistently gave my coach a coronary in every competition, doing so. I learnt about how mindset can affect your performance and when I didn’t achieve the result I wanted in an event then I needed to change how I saw failure, putting it in the right context not beating myself up. I would not appreciate until much later in life how having the ability to control my mindset would help me as I faced a massive challenge.

On the 31st December 1990 at 1.45pm my life changed forever when I was involved in a serious, life changing car accident. Having to learn to live with those injuries was a major challenge; for five years it was a constant round of consultants, scans, medication, physio’s, a roller coaster of emotions. This is where my positive mindset kicked in, people live with much worse than me, and I could and would cope. I decided that my injuries would fit into my life, not the other way around.

Fast forward many years and in that time I opened my day nursery which I absolutely loved. I increased the capacity of the nursery 3 times which involved moving premises, employing more staff (24) which was pretty scary but hey I survived the experiences and I was ready for each change in level. Feeling a little apprehensive (okay a lot sometimes) is a good thing because it means you are not going in feeling complacent. But I was ready to grow with my business and when you step up it is a fantastic experience.

Eventually that business was sold as I was truly ready for something new. I returned to being employed as an area manager but within weeks was called into my boss’s office and was made redundant simply because my joining the company had put a huge financial strain on his business. The warning signs were there from the start but it hit me hard but after a short holiday to get over it I dusted myself down and joined the retail management world, a very different experience. I loved working in retail and gained valuable experience in how it all works but alas I realised that working for others wasn’t a right ‘fit’ for me. I need freedom to do my own thing and I’m the best boss in the world to work for.

So I entered the world of Image Consultancy in 2002 and this is the best career move I have ever made. I’m often asked why I didn’t enter it sooner but my answer is simple, I wasn’t ready for it. But I do so much more than image. Image is so much more than what you wear and my business has changed from level to level, when I was ready for the next step up.  It is so exciting as your business evolves, where you start is just a starting point, when you tap into your intuition and are guided by it your business fully explodes into life.

I am now trained in presentation skills, public speaking, setting up business and training people for new careers. I am sort out as a speaker, trainer, business mentor & coach to senior business executives, sales managers, consultants, trainers, coaches, entrepreneurs & solopreneurs.

My approach is passionate and encouraging, not intimidating although I'm told that I can give people a kick up the you know where when it is required!!
